Bullying and Cyberbullying Prevention Course • Grades 3+
Bullying is when someone is hurt by unwanted words or actions, usually more than once and has a hard time stopping what is happening to them.
Bullying can happen anywhere. It can occur in your neighborhood, while going to school, at school, and while on-line.
All players in the bullying experience may suffer pain or distress. Whether your child is being bullied, is the bully, or is taking a silent bystander approach, this class will provide participants with tools to learn when to tell, when to ask adults for assistance, and when and how to walk away.
This program is designed to educate and empower students to explore the world of friendships. Bullying is stressful for everyone involved, so this class approaches the topic through fun and engaging activities, stories, and role playing.
Topics include:
- Defining bullying
- Effects of bullying
- Understanding bullying and cyberbullying
- How to report bullying
- Understand the connection between empathy and bullying prevention
- Recognizing and removing the risks
Do you Bully others? Then what does someone who bullies mean?
The answer: It’s their BEHAVIOR. It’s bullying when someone uses words or action to hurt or harm someone else and that person has a hard time defending themselves.
Sometimes kids who bully might think that it’s cool, fun or just “no big deal”, but think about it — what is cool or fun about hurting someone? Name calling, tripping someone, laughing at them, leaving them out, ignoring them on purpose—how can hurting someone possibly be “no big deal?”
If kids think about why they are bullying, they can then deal with those reasons and change their behavior. You want cool? Now that’s cool.
Knowing exactly what bullying is and understanding why it happens, is critical to finding positive and effective solutions for everyone involved!!!
